Frequently asked questions

Why don't you have set prices for your services?

The simple answer? Every pet is different! Some pets require a slower approach, more resources and more time to get the job done. I pride myself on going at the pace my patient deems most comfortable for them. I also need to factor in the time needed to travel to your home, which can vary.

Why do I need to fill out such a long form before booking?

In order to provide the best and safest care for your pet I need to know their medical and behavioral history. This allows me to tailor a plan that will work best for all parties involved.

Why do my fluids/medications need to be prescribed by a Veterinarian? Can't you just give it yourself?

Unfortunately, I legally am unable to prescribe medications. I am only able to administer things that have been prescribed by a registered DVM. I am also unable to diagnose. My job as an RVT is a lot like a nurse, I administer treatments that your veterinarian believes will benefit your pet based on their diagnosis.

My pet is aggressive at the vet. Will you still use fear free techniques?

Using fear free techniques is vital when dealing with animals that have fear or anxiety surrounding medical treatment. However, staying safe is also important. Sometimes, depending on the situation we may have to use tools like muzzles, cone collars and towel wraps to keep everyone safe.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Nanaimo, BC and the surrounding area. Please contact us to see if you live within our service area.

What kinds of pets do you deal with?

At this time we service dogs and cats.

How do you ensure a fear-free experience for my pet?

We use treats, positive reinforcement and going at a comfortable pace to help your pet feel safe during their experience with us. We may also use things like cone collars and towels for gentle restraint.
